Memphis police say a 44 year-old Frayser man opened fire on a car full of people, including his own daughter.
Aaron Harvey remains in jail charged with several counts of aggravated assault. People who know him say this is not like him. They’re convinced something set him off.
Just after 1:30 Monday morning, neighbors heard shooting at his home on Mt. Terrace Street. When police arrived, they found a car parked in the driveway that had been pierced by two bullets from a gun fired by Harvey. Police records show five people were inside the parked car, including Harvey’s fiancée and his own daughter. Investigators recovered spent shell casings at the scene. Officers found the gun inside the house and took Harvey downtown where he confessed to firing shots. Police included no explanation or motive but one long-time friend is convinced something must have sparked his rage.
Neighbors are shocked and say Harvey always seemed nice.
“Something has got to be mighty bad to make him go off like that,” says Clarence Dickerson who has known Harvey for decades. “There has to be more to it than he was doing.”
Harvey has an arrest record that includes assault, disorderly conduct, and there are several records for orders of protection. He was given a $75,000 bond.
