The duo were set to fight in March but it did not happen because the 31-year-old five-weight world champion Pacquiao refused to fulfill Mayweather’s demand of undertaking a random drug testing.
However, Pacquiao has softened his stand on the blood testing demands and agreed to undergo a blood test 14 days ahead of a proposed showdown. “I have agreed to it, but they should not draw much blood. They should only take what is necessary for the drug test,” said the Filipino star.
“He Mayweather] will no longer have a reason [not to fight]. Let’s see if that is really the reason,” added Pacquiao.
If the fight goes ahead it will be definitely be the richest showdown in the history of boxing. The fight will also determine who is the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao, who was recently elected to his country’s parliament was hospitalized today after complaining of a severe stomach pain. Jake Joson, the spokesman of Pacquaio, said that the pugilist was complaining of a stomach pain since Saturday. He was finally admitted to an undisclosed hospital today.
