She was beautiful, a fashion designer who dressed the stars and the girlfriend of one of the most famous musicians in the world. Yet all of that wasn't enough to keep L'Wren Scott from taking her own life. On March 17, 2014, the 49-year-old fashion designer was found hanging from a doorknob by her assistant.
Scott, who had been dating Mick Jagger, 70, for 12 years, left her entire $9 million estate to the Rolling Stones lead singer. Scott's apartment, which was located in Chelsea, was worth $8 million alone and made up the bulk of her estate. Reportedly, her will left nothing to her two siblings, Randy Bambrough and Jan Shane.
According to the New York Times, the designer had been concerned about her business's financial health right before her death. And observers noted that there had been signs that all may not have been well with her business. For example, in February, Scott suddenly decided to cancel her 2014 fashion show.
Other sources claimed that she and Jagger had broken up, but others who knew Scott denied that the pair had split. As for Jagger, 70, he wrote on his website that he "was struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way."
Scott was cremated and her ashes were split between her brother, Randy, and Jagger. Bambrough has said he plans to scatter Scott's ashes in her home state of Utah, but that he was not aware of Jagger's plans for the rest of Scott's remains.
