Over the last few months, Raven Symoné’s guest co-host stint on The View has had tongues wagging due to her unorthodox views on just about everything. Now, it appears she may be a permanent fixture on the daytime roundtable.
In April, Page Six revealed that Raven-Symoné was looking to join the cast permanently after Rosie O’Donnell left due to health problems. A source from ABC told the paper, “She was interesting and provocative. Raven would be great as a regular host.”
Now, the New York Daily News is reporting that everyone connected to the show is impressed by Symoné’s work ethic.
“Every night she studies all the current events and topics for the next day,” an insider says. “Everyone is blown away. Nobody else prepares like she does!”
Given The View’s plunging ratings, it’s being speculated that — good or bad — Raven’s ability to get tongues wagging is the real driving force behind the decision. Either way, head moderator Whoopi Goldberg seems to be a big fan of the idea.
During a taping of a show this week, Goldberg ended the episode by saying, “We love saying it, but Raven and Michelle will be back tomorrow. We’re trying to make it permanent, so write in to everybody.”
ABC has currently made no official statement as to who the permanent co-hosts will be for the upcoming season.
