Authorities shut down RFK Bridge in New York after driver abandons U-Haul truck on bridge.

An abandoned truck has shut down the RFK Bridge.The vehicle was found earlier this evening. The bomb squad is being sent in to investigate, only a precaution. This story developing.


New York City police are investigating a truck abandoned several yards from a toll booth near the Manhattan side of the Triborough Bridge.

Police say witnesses reported seeing a man flee the vehicle sometime Wednesday night and a smell of gasoline was reported coming from the vehicle, which was described as a U-Haul or Ryder truck.

The Bridge was shut down to traffic and emergency services officers along with the bomb Squad and the FDNY are responding to the scene.

No other information was immediately available.

The Triborough Bridge was recently renamed the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.
