The BET Music Awards are right around the way dating for June 25 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, CA. The BET Music Awards nominations have released this past Monday. Can you guess what’s headlining for that evening already? Did you guess correctly? It’s the Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma beef.
Even though Remy Ma claimed that the “dust has settled,” in her recent interview with The Real, she will go up against the reigning champion for the title of Best Female Hip Hop Artist. Nicki Minaj has taken home the win for this award every year since 2010. Other women included in the category this year are Missy Elliott, Young M.A, and new Bronx Queen Cardi B. who has a huge chance of winning.
Chance The Rapper is up for four awards, including Album of the Year for HipHopDX’s Best Album of 2016, Coloring Book, and Best New Artist where he’s going up against Young M.A, Young Savage, Cardi B, and Khalid. Migos get a round of 3 nominations. Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset are up for Best Group along with their catchy hit “Bad and Boujee” ft. Lil Uzi Vert which is in the running for Best Collaboration and Video of the Year.
Queen Bey leads all nominees of course, with seven. Beyonce is up for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and twice for Best Collaboration with Kendrick Lamar for “Freedom” and DJ Khaled’s “Shining” with Jay-Z. Also getting nominated for Video of the Year for “Sorry,” which gave her a nod for Video Director of the Year alongside Kahlil Joseph. Her immaculate LEMONADE album is up for Album of the Year. Talk about killing the game.
The BET Awards will also give recognition achievements in film, television, sports and international music acts ain more than 19 categories. A complete list of the 2017 BET Music Awards nominees is available at the BET Awards‘ official website, but take a look at some of the categories below.
