Windows Surface RT

If you’re the type of person who is always on the go, you may be tired of lugging around a laptop and are now ready to get your hands on a lightweight tablet computer. Apple has been dominating the market with its iPad and the recent release of the iPad Mini. However, people who are accustomed to using Windows software will want to check out Microsoft’s new tablet, the Windows Surface RT, which has a 10.6-inch touch-sensitive display. You can use it to run business applications as well as play games and watch HD videos in 16:9 aspect ratio.

This tablet weighs a mere 1.5 pounds and is protected with Microsoft’s tough and fingerprint-resistant VaporMg magnesium alloy casing. The display is made from the ultra-touch Gorilla Glass, which is the same material used to make Apple’s iPad display.
The Windows Surface RT comes with a version of Microsoft’s operating system, Windows RT already installed, along with Microsoft Office Home and the Student RT Preview, so you’ll be able to run Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You can download additional apps for the device from the Windows Store via Wi-Fi.
Front and rear-facing 720p HD LifeCam cameras enable you to take pictures, shoot videos and make video calls over the Internet via Skype. The kickstand holds up the tablet so you can make a hands-free video chat.
You can connect the tablet to an HDTV television or a projector when you want to share a video, slideshow or business presentation with a large group, instead of making them crowd around your tablet.
The basic 32GB model costs $499. For an extra $100, you will get a black touch cover that doubles as a keyboard with a trackpad. This is convenient when you need to write a lot with the device and don’t want to type on the touch-sensitive display, such as when working with Microsoft Office documents. The 64GB model with a touch cover costs $699.
