Design and Display

The Galaxy Z Flip features a modern smartphone shape and design, which is letting you fold it in half. It has mirror coloring, making it extremely reflective and a massive fingerprint magnet. The only downside is you have to constantly clean it, although it features a stunning design overall.

This foldable smartphone feed incredibly refined as well, which is far superior compared to other of its kind that you can find in the market today. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip features an almost perfect symmetry and sleek lines, without any ugly notch you can find inside the screen.

The Galaxy Z Flip features a 2.9:9 aspect ratio, which is a bit narrower than most handsets but allows the phone to be more ergonomic. Samsung deployed a much tighter hinge for this smartphone. It made the Galaxy Z Flip a bit thicker than typical smartphones, but a necessary evil for its flip design.

One thing that Samsung is incredibly proud of its new foldable smartphone is the display quality. They claim that it has an ultra-thin glass and not plastic on top, which is a game-changer in this technology. However, the small puter screen is not the most impressive feature of this smartphone. It’s so tiny that it’s barely useful except for showing the time and view notification icons.

And with its failed launch attempt previously because of some design issues, Samsung made improvements with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. It now comes with little fibers that can brush away debris and dirt to protect the integrity of the screen.

Camera Quality

When it comes to the camera quality of the Galaxy Z Flip, it’s not so terrible but isn’t overly impressive either. The smartphone doesn’t feature the progress that Samsung laid out on its Galaxy Note 10 and S10 last year, much to some people’s dismay.

However, the two 12MP, one wide-angle and the other ultrawide, sensors on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip are not bad. You can still take great quality selfies using the front camera, although you can’t change the aspect ratio of the photos. They will always be square.

Based on the camera quality alone, the one you can get with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip isn’t the best technology from Samsung phones.

Software – One UI

While you might not want to buy the Galaxy Z Flip based on its camera alone, you may opt to do so for its sleek and reliable software. One UI is a significant shift for Samsung, which started with its Galaxy S10. The same excellent software experience extends to the Z Flip.

One advantage you can find with this foldable smartphone is its ease of use for multitasking. You can easily split the screen into two, and you can run any app you are using on either one.

When you fold the phone are around a 90-degrees angle, you can activate the Flex mode interface, which is something Samsung worked closely with Google. Opening the camera app this way will show you’re the viewfinder on the top half of the screen with the controls showing at the bottom. This design feature is ideal for making video calls as well.

Performance and Battery Life

While some other features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip are pretty decent, thanks to its 8GB of RAM and its processor, which is the Snapdragon 855+, this phone has impressive speed. It may not be the top-tier specs for Android phones, but it follows the flagship specifications of last year’s models.

While most issues that people get about foldable smartphones is the short battery life, that shouldn’t be the case with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Although its 3,300 mAh won’t last you for 24 hours without charging, it can still run for as long as 16 to 18 hours, which is more than what other phones of its kind can offer. The phone can last you the entire day, but you may need to charge it by dinnertime.

However, it’s worth noting that the Z Flip has two cells to make up to its total capacity., which means Samsung did have to compromise in the battery for this foldable design.

The Verdict

There are significant concerns about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip’s durability. However, that is mostly the case for all folding displays. This design is far less superior in terms of strength compared to typical smartphones. However, Samsung deployed a few additions and innovations to help address previous issues.

Like other foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip requires a certain level of care. But performance-wise, it’s a dependable option compared to the ones of its kind that are already in the market.

That said, the Z Flip is easily the most advanced, highly dependable, and best-looking foldable smartphone in the market. But ultimately, the primary question of whether you should or shouldn’t buy it will depend if you need it or if you believe Samsung’s claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is durable.
