The Magnificent Microsoft Surface Pro 6

Microsoft’s latest offering is new Surface Pro 6, a category-defining tablet PC that comes with a new Intel Core i5 or i7 (8th generation) and Windows 10 Home. The device is cheaper, smarter and boasts of exceptional battery life.

From the outside, the Surface Pro is quite similar to its predecessors: similar magnesium body, same ports, same front firing speakers and the same 12.3 screen. But there are other features salient to the device. Here’s a lowdown.

Design and build

Surface Pro is 1.08kg and is easier to carry as it is lighter than the other ultrabooks. As mentioned above, the device on the outside is similar to its predecessors. It has the same magnesium body yet what’s new for this machine is that it comes with a thin black paint job that joins the platinum silver.

Microsoft Surface Pro 6 would score a 100 on performance. It comes powered with Intel Core i5 or i7 (8th generation), which has significantly improved the device’s overall performance, making it more efficient and faster than its predecessors. It also comes with an integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics chip that can enhance your experience on graphically intensive games.

Battery life

Battery life is the strength of this product and has improved significantly from its predecessors.  A battery of The Core i7 variant lasts nearly 7 hours while the Core i5 version has a battery life of nine hours.

The Ports for the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 remains same as the previous versions. It comes with a magnetic Surface Connector. It also has a microSD card reader under the kickstand.

The tablet also comes with a USB 3.0 port and a mini DisplayPort which isn’t that useful as it requires a dongle or new cable to connect.

Microsoft has removed the modern port which doesn’t seem like a good idea.

Windows 10 Home

The tablet comes powered with the Windows 10 Home, which does lack the advanced networking tools. But it has a device encryption to protect your data in case your tablet is stolen by someone.

Audio performance

Microsoft Surface Pro 6 can score well on the audio quality. The speakers are loud and direct.

Face login

The Surface Pro comes with an in-built Windows Hello face recognition system that inundates the need to put your password every time you want to log into your device. It would not be wrong to deem it one of the best features of this device.

With 8MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras, the picture quality is pretty good for a tablet.

Type Cover

If you are purchasing the Surface Pro, it is essential that you go for the Type Cover. Given any day, it is the best tool to enhance typing experience in any convertible tablet.

The Surface Pen

The Surface Pro doesn’t come with a Surface Pen, but it is something you can buy.

Microsoft surface pro definitely has a lot to offer. However. It depends on person to person as to what your needs are!
