Ultraportable, Stunning, and Powerful: 2018 Dell XPS 13 9370

Dell keeps on beating limitations as they release the 2018 Dell XPS 139370. This ultraportable laptop enters swiftly to the list of favorite Windows laptops as it shows off its nearly virtually borderless infinity design. The futuristic look of XPS 13 9370 comes in an elegant rose–gold-and-white color theme topped with a sophisticated glass-fiber deck, achieving an alpine glass weave. Popping vibrant colors, Dell is also adding a new rose–gold color option mixed with a white interior as well.

For a brief Dell refresher, XPS 13 9370 is the successor, or more like the new and improved baby brother, of Dell XPS 13 9360. The old XPS 13 9360 was once declared as the world’s smallest laptop with the dimensions of 13.3 inches (33.8 cm) in an 11-inch (28-cm) frame, weighing 1.22 kg. This model is super slim with 9–15 mm thickness and is exceptionally light and thin. The captivating part is the convenience of having more screens with less to carry.

This year, the time has come for XPS 13 9360’s successor, the 2018 Dell XPS 13 9370, to wear the crown of being the smallest laptop at 13.3 inches. According to its maker, the newly released XPS 13 is 24% smaller in volume. This shrink is due to the 4-mm border running around its Infinity Edge display, giving a screen-to-body ratio of 80.7%.

With this enhanced, premium, and ultraportable version, Dell fixed the issue of color shifting at maximum brightness to give a vibrant display. This also means that whether you pick the full HD or 4K UHD resolution touch or non-touch displays, you can still experience the 100% sRGB color gamut at 400 nits. The webcam of 2018 Dell XPS 13 9370 is also placed centered at the base. It has a facial recognition for logging in assisted by its infrared camera.

The unit’s power button has a built-in fingerprint reader for added sophistication and security. The unit also possesses a wide ray of connections including a micro SD card reader, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a USB-C input. It also has a 3.5-mm headphone jack and Display Port support.

Aside from the better power management due to its new thermal design, 2018 Dell XPS 13 9370 offers a “dynamic power mode” that can intelligently deliver maximum power when needed. Dell also reported that the small yet powerful, new XPS can squeeze 19 hours of battery life. However, this rate can drop to 11 hours in 4k Ultra HD mode.

Dell XPS 13 9370 has an eighth-generation Intel quad-core (i5-8250U or i7-8550U) processor with Intel UHD Graphics 620. This powerful spec is also paired with 16 GB of memory and up to 1 TB of PCI Express in solid-state storage.

All in all, 2018 Dell XPS 13 9370 looks promising and had a stunning entrance on the latest CES. The brief downside of this model is just the lower battery life quote which is a 19-hour figure, compared with the 22-hour capacity of its predecessor. Also, its new cooling system, especially the direction of its exhaust and heat, might be a good thing or an uncomfortable thing. Dell XPS 13 9370 is now available on Dell.com, and the price starts at $999. Its Ubuntu version will also be released to public next month.
