As the 2019 Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame ceremony is coming closer, we have started to learn who is going to be inducted. Last week, there were rumors about Def Leppard getting inducted by Brian May of the legendary Queen. And now, Simon Le Bon and John Taylor from the band Duran Duran in a recent interview, has said that they are going to induct their childhood heroes and inspiration to the Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame.
Simon Le Bon and John Taylor, members of the band, Duran Duran are all set to induct Roxy Music to the hall of fame of Rock ‘N’ Roll.
The ceremony will be taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on the 29th of March.
Taylor appeared in a show hosted by the former sex pistols guitarist Steve Jones, where he stated that Roxy music will be inducted someone close to their hearts later in this month. To which Steve Jones, the host of the show Jonesy’s Jukebox responded, “someone I’m looking at, I think I’m so jealous.”
John Taylor said “I think Simon and I are going to do it, which is incredible”, in the interview. Taylor then shared his experience of watching Roxy Music’s video of “Virginia Plane” back then in 1972. He said that he remembered watching them on the television, and “they were just like nothing we’d ever seen before, were they?”. Taylor then called the band “mind-blowing” and said how he thinks that they were from outer space.
Duran Duran’s style of the arty-synth rock owes a huge debt to Roxy music.
Taylor paid it off with the tribute album called Dream Home Heartaches: Remaking/Remodeling Roxy Music in the middle of the 90s. He also covered “Just another High” with the former GNR drummer Matt Sorum.
