It wasn’t an “Encore,” but it certainly was a surprise.
Ja y-Z gave a rare performance last night at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Reunion Concert. The event, held in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, was created to honor Diddy’s late friend Notorious B.I.G., who would have been 44 years old yesterday.
This represented the rapper’s first major appearance since Beyoncé released her album publicly addressing his martial infidelity. Jay-Z has tried to remain out of the spotlight recently but re-emerged in a big way, joining a star-studded musical lineup and taking the stage to perform two songs. Before exiting, Diddy thanked Jay-Z for his support.
“You’ve been there with me through my ups and downs. Whenever I get in trouble, this is the one I call,” Diddy said onstage, referring to Jay Z. “This is my strategist right here, this my brother, this B.I.G.’s brother, this Brooklyn’s own, Brooklyn! That’s why I appreciate you. He came from 5,000 miles away to come here to Brooklyn to represent for B.I.G.”
Other surprise guests included Mary J. Blige, Lil’ Kim, Nas, Usher, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Ty Dolla $ign, and French Montana.
