
Vh1 Hip Hop Honors are setting a different tone this year.
Sept 18th The 90′ s Game Changer themed Hip Hop Honors will contribute this years show to the highly favored era of hip-hop, television & film. Including celebrating the success of comedian Martin Lawrence. He will be one of the nights special honorees.
With a personality so animated with humor he helped mold the foundation for comedy. With self titled TV sitcom Martin he became a staple on TV from 1992-1997. Headed over to the movie seen, Martin acted in big screen movies such as Bad Boys & Big Mommas House which placed him as one of Hollywood’s biggest names.
“Anytime anyone wants to recognize you for your work, it’s an honor. I am looking forward to a really great night of fun and music,” says Lawrence in a statement to Billboard. I’n addition to reveling at the success of the ’90s, VH1 will also pay special tribute to those affected by Hurricane Harvey during the show.
Last year, VH1 showered the legendary ladies of hip-hop with a special tribute, as Lil’ Kim, Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott and Salt-N-Pepa were named special honorees. The two-hour show pulled in an immense amount of 3 million viewers.
