Well known rapper Nelly was accused of sexual assault last year by an anonymous British woman who goes by the name Jane Doe. The lady has now accused the police department of Essex to have messed up with her case.
The British woman claims that after a concert held at Cliffs Pavilion on December 5, 2017, in Southend, Nelly masturbated in front of her in the backstage and forced her to perform oral sex.
The British woman wrote in a letter about how she was daunted by Nelly and his legal support. She also said that the police instead of treating her as the victim have made things worse for her. The accuser’s lawyer says that the police tried to obtain Doe’s personal details by trying to lay hands on her phone records and have also shown up in her house without any prior notice to take her to the police station. The police had asked Doe for her phone records including conversations, texts, emails and pictures that she shared with her lawyer. Doe’s lawyer mentioned this to be a violation of attorney-client privilege as stated in the law of the United States. The lawyer also stated that the Essex Police took about a year before they could get an interview with Nelly.
The attorney of Doe doubts that the police are influenced by Nelly’s position and legal team. Because of the harassment caused by the Essex Police, he said since the lawsuit has already been filed Doe would no longer be co-operating with the investigation.
The Essex Police departments stated that they had already received a communication from the attorney and they would soon be reviewing the investigation along with the two parties.
This is not the first time Nelly has faced a lawsuit for sexual harassment. Earlier in 2016, an American woman had filed a similar lawsuit against him for sexually harassing her backstage.
