LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne, popularly known as “Livvy,” is set to feature in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s 60th-anniversary issue in May, following her debut in the 2023 edition. Ahead of the upcoming spread, the 21-year-old provided a sneak peek and shared details about the photoshoot, which took place in Porto and North of Portugal, a departure from last year’s shoot in Puerto Rico with photographer Ben Watts.
Expressing her excitement for the second outing with the magazine, Dunne mentioned that the previous SI shoot opened doors in the modeling and media world. She reflected on the significance of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in promoting body positivity, particularly in the context of gymnastics, where body image is a significant concern.
For Dunne, the magazine represents being comfortable in one’s skin and embracing imperfections. Despite struggles with body confidence, she acknowledged Sports Illustrated’s role in encouraging self-acceptance.
SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day explained the decision to feature Livvy again, highlighting her evolution from a D1 athlete to an accomplished entrepreneur breaking barriers. Day emphasized Livvy’s unique and impactful representation among SI Swimsuit women, proud of her achievements and excited to welcome her back as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookie.
The upcoming issue aims to showcase Livvy Dunne not just as an LSU D1 gymnast but as a recognized figure in the modeling world, solidifying her position as an influential trailblazer for female athletes in the years to come.
